Police Board to meet on Thursday
Toronto: The next scheduled meeting of the Toronto Police Services Board will take place on Thursday December 17 at 1:30 PM. Please note that this meeting will not take place at Police Headquarters but will instead take place in Committee Room 1 at Toronto City Hall, 100 Queen Street West. Copies of the agenda are available on the Board’s website www.tpsb.ca, from the Board office and limited copies are available at the meeting. 2010 OPERATING BUDGET
The Board will consider a number of reports and presentations on the 2010 operating budget submissions from the Toronto Police Service, the Toronto Police Services Board and the Toronto Police Service – Parking Enforcement Unit. In addition, the Board will receive submissions from members of the public with respect to the operating budget submissions. The total Toronto Police Service budget request for 2010 is $896.2M (net), or 4.8% over the 2009 approved net operating budget.

BOARD POLICY: ACCESSIBILITY STANDARDS FOR CUSTOMER SERVICE
The Board will consider a report from the Chair recommending approval of a policy entitled “Accessibility Standards for Customer Service.” This policy was developed in response to the Accessibility for Ontarians with Disabilities Act, 2005, which includes standards to achieve the vision of a barrier-free Ontario by 2025.

ABORIGINAL POLICING – STATEMENT OF COMMITMENT AND GUIDING PRINCIPLES
The Board will consider a report from the Chief regarding the implementation of a document recently approved by the Board, Aboriginal Policing – Statement of Commitment and Guiding Principles. The report states that the Service is committed to working with members of the Aboriginal community to provide inclusive, bias-free service in an atmosphere of mutual respect, understanding and trust, and provides details of implementation in each of the Statement’s core areas.

PROFESSIONAL STANDARDS SEMI-ANNUAL REPORT
The Board will hear a presentation and consider a report from the Chief regarding the Professional Standards 2009 Semi-Annual report. The report illustrates statistical data from January to June 2009 and includes information about a number of areas, including public complaints, Police Services Act charges, Use of Force, Suspect Apprehension Pursuits and Service Awards.
