CAPB WITNESSES AT THE STANDING COMMITTEE ON PUBLIC SAFETY AND NATIONAL SECURITY

Yesterday, CAPB board members, Dr. Alok Mukherjee, Secretary-Treasurer and Carol Allison-Burra, Director, appeared as witnesses at the Standing Committee on Public Safety and National Security to discuss the importantissue Bill C-391, the Private Members Bill that would eliminate the registration of all firearms that are not restricted or prohibited.

Witnesses were given 10 minutes to deliver their statement followed by questions from members of the Committee. The other witnesses who appeared were RCMP, Senior Deputy Commissioner, Bill Sweeney, Chief Superintendent Marty Cheliak, Director of the Canadian Firearms Program, Rick Hanson,Chief of Calgary Police Service and from the YWCA Canada, Paullette Senior, Chief Executive Officer and Ann Decter, Director, Advocacy and Public
Policy.
