Police Board to meet on Thursday

TORONTO: The next scheduled meeting of the Toronto Police Services Board will take place on Thursday August 26 at 1:30 PM. PLEASE NOTE THAT THIS MEETING WILL NOT TAKE PLACE AT POLICE HEADQUARTERS BUT WILL INSTEAD TAKE PLACE IN COMMITTEE ROOM 1 AT TORONTO CITY HALL,100 QUEEN STREET WEST. ANNUAL REPORT – 2009 PROFESSIONAL STANDARDS
The Board will hear a presentation and consider a report from the Chief regarding the Professional Standards 2009 Annual report. The report includes information about public complaints, civil litigation, Police Services Act charges, use of force, Suspect Apprehension Pursuits and Service awards. The annual report shows decreases in public complaints, use of force incidents and suspect apprehension pursuits.

ANNUAL REPORT – 2009 SERVICE PERFORMANCE YEAR-END REPORT
The Board will consider a report from the Chief on the 2009 Service Performance Year End Report. Each year, as part of the strategic planning process, the Service prepares an annual report, providing the results of the measurement of the Service prioritiesm using the performance indicators set out in the Business Plan, as well as additional information required under the Police Services Act. In the 2009-2011 Business Plan, there are seven priorities with 18 individual goals. In 2009, most goals were considered partially achieved.

TORONTO POLICE SERVICE 2010 CAPITAL BUDGET VARIANCE REPORT
The Board will consider a report from the Chief regarding the Capital Budget variance for the period ending June 30, 2010. As of this date, the Service is projecting a total gross expenditure of $82.8M, compared to $90.3, in available funding; a spending rate of 92% for 2010. The projected (net) under-expenditure for 2010 is $6.5M. The report also recommends that the Board approve a budget transfer of $150,000 from the Repository for Integrated Criminalistic Imaging (RICI) replacement project to the Acquisition and Implementation of the New Records Management System (RMS), with no net impact on the Capital Program.

G8/G20 CONTRIBUTION AGREEMENT
The Board will consider correspondence from The Honourable Vic Toews, Minister of Public Safety, Government of Canada concerning the G8/G20 Summits and the contribution agreement. In the letter, it is noted that the G8 contribution has now been signed and that, further, approval was recently given to allow Public Safety Canada to amend the G8 contribution agreement to include the G20 Summit funding.

TERMS OF REFERENCE – INDEPENDENT CIVILIAN REVIEW OF G20 SUMMIT
The Board will consider a report from the Chair providing an update on the development of Terms of Reference for the Independent Civilian Review of the G20 Summit.
