CRIME STOPPERS PRESENTATION
The Board will hear a presentation by Mr. Lorne Simon, Chair, and Mr. Michael Bagg, Treasurer, Toronto Crime Stoppers, about the Crime Stoppers Program. January has been recognized as Crime Stoppers Month.

TRAINING REVIEW PRESENTATION
The Board will hear a presentation and consider a report from Mr. Jeffrey Griffiths, Auditor General, City of Toronto, entitled “Review of Police Training, Opportunities for Improvement - Toronto Police Service.”

The main objectives of the audit were to review the training activities at the Service in order to identify opportunities for improving the management, administration and effectiveness of the police training program. The audit focused on a review of provincial legislation and regulations, Board policies and Service procedures to determine Service compliance and a review of internal processes related to the identification of training needs, training costs and the evaluation of the effectiveness of training.

MINISTRY OF LABOUR DECISION REGARDING IDENTIFICATION ON POLICE UNIFORMS
The Board will consider a report from Chair Alok Mukherjee regarding the Ministry of Labour’s decision regarding identification on police uniforms in the form of name badges. The report indicates that following a review, an Occupational Health and Safety Inspector with the Ministry of Labour has concluded that there has been no evidence provided that demonstrates that wearing a name badge has caused anything beyond minor injuries.

2007 OPERATING BUDGET SUBMISSION FOR THE TORONTO POLICE SERVICE
The Board will consider a report from the Chief with respect to the Service’s 2007 operating budget submission. The report recommends the approval of, among other things, the 2007 net operating budget submission of $783.2M, which represents a 4.1% increase over the 2006 approved net operating budget, and an additional amount of $3.5M, to provide court security for the opening of new provincial courts, to be funded separately by City Council.

SUMMARY REPORT FOR TAVIS, PEDESTRIAN SAFETY AND STAFFING STRATEGY INITIATIVES
The Board will consider a report from the Chief containing summaries and fact sheets regarding results from the Toronto Anti-Violence Intervention Strategy (TAVIS), pedestrian safety statistical information, and information about the Service’s staffing strategy, for public communication.
