Police Board to meet on Thursday

Toronto: The next scheduled meeting of the Toronto Police Services Board will take place on Thursday December 18 at 1:30 PM. Please note that this meeting will not take place at Police Headquarters but will instead take place in Committee Room 1 at Toronto City Hall, 100 Queen Street West. FOCUSED NEIGHBOURHOOD TAVIS DEPLOYMENT
The Board will hear a presentation and consider a report from the Chief regarding the Jane-
Finch and Regent Park Focused Neighbourhood Deployment. This ten-week initiative included 28 officers and resulted in increased safety and quality of life for the community during the term of the deployment.
2009-2011 BUSINESS PLAN
The Board and the Service will make a joint presentation on the Toronto Police Service 2009-2011. One of the core legislative responsibilities of a police services board under the Police Services Act is to generally determine, after consultation with the chief of police, objectives and priorities with respect to police services in the municipality. The Business Plan, a result of extensive community consultation, includes priorities, goals and performance objectives/indicators.
DOMESTIC VIOLENCE SEMI-ANNUAL REPORT
The Board will hear a presentation and consider a report from the Chief regarding the Domestic Violence Semi-Annual report. The report discusses significant cases and charges laid and highlights relevant programs and partnerships with the commuinity in this area, including cultural initiatives.
PROFESSIONAL STANDARDS SEMI-ANNUAL REPORT
The Board will hear a presentation and consider a report from the Chief regarding the Professional Standards 2008 Semi-Annual report. The report illustrates statistical data from January to June 2008 and includes information about the Professional Standards Information System, public complaints, Police Services Act charges, Use of Force, Suspect Apprehension Pursuits and Service Awards.
2009 OPERATING BUDGET REQUEST FOR THE TORONTO POLICE SERVICE
The Board will consider a walk-on report from the Chief with a number of recommendations, among them that the Board approve the 2009 net operating budget request of $840.7 million, excluding the impact of a final contract settlement, a 2.6% increase over the 2008 approved net operating budget.
