Police Board to meet on Thursday, January 22nd

Toronto: The next scheduled meeting of the Toronto Police Services Board will take place on Thursday January 22 at 1:30 PM in the Auditorium, 40 College Street. Copies of the agenda are available on the Board’s website, www.tpsb.ca, from the Board office, and limited copies are available at the meeting. 2008 HEALTHY WORKPLACE INITIATIVES
The Board will hear a presentation and receive a report regarding health and wellness initiatives that have been undertaken by the Service over the last year. Issues addressed in the report include, organizational health, nutritional counselling, fatigue management & shift work and fitness.
IMPACT OF REDUCING PAID DUTIES
The Board will consider reports from the Chair and Chief regarding paid duty. The Chair's report will address the history of the paid duty process, legislative requirement for the use of paid duty and paid duty effects on City funded agencies and organizations to carry out their programs. The Chief's report will address the impact of reducing paid duty policing through the deployment of on duty policing funded by alternative sources of revenue.
ON-LINE AUCTIONEERING SERVICES
The Board will consider approval of the issuance of a Request for Quotation for on-line auctioneering services.
2009 REVISED OPERATING BUDGET REQUEST FOR THE TORONTO POLICE SERVICE
The Board will consider a walk-on report from the Chief with a number of recommendations, among them that the Board approve the 2009 net operating budget request of $860.4 million, a $38.4 M (4.7%) increase over the 2008 approved net operating budget.
